Xenia was a favorite of ours for years. Unfortunately this visit disappointed across the board in service, food appearance & quality. If this had been my first visit I would have rated the experience fair to poor but because we have had better experiences in the past, rated it neutral. Will give it another try in the future
The food is always excellent and the servers are pleasant and very friendly and helpful.

Felt rushed as we arrive at 8pm and restaurant closed at 9pm. Usually service is much better than I experienced at my recent visit. Was empty other than 1 other table. Good portions but food quality can be hit or miss.

I ordered the Fire Roasted Chicken and thought it was dry. The vegetables and risotto on the same plate were very good and enough to make a meal for me. The waitress did offer a replacement which I declined.

Our party included adults and teens , one of whom is a vegan and everyone was able to choose a meal that was to their tastes. We had pasta, pizza, veggie egg rolls, chicken and a very delicious short rib entree. A very nice place for family dining. Our server was attentive but not hovering.

The waiter gave us very poor service and accused us of not leaving a tip he had confused our tab with someone else and was very rude, yelled at us out the door as we were leaving the restaurant. We reported it to the restaurant the next day they said they would get back to us and never would never did.

We came about 8:30pm, we werent aware of closing time. We felt rushed out, we were told by waitress we had 5 min to order before kitchen closed. While we were eating, the staff putall the chairs up, started mopping. Will never go back

This is the best restaurant in the East Bay that's on restaurant.com. So many on restaurant.com are unappealing but this place has excellent food and wonderfully professional servers. I've tried it 3 times in past few months and it has never been a disappointment.just great quality!

FOOD WAS GREAT AS USUAL. THE RESTURANT IS REALLY LOUD. IT IS HARD TO CARRY ON A CONVERSATION. WE USUALLY EAT OUTSIDE ON THE TERRACE, BUT TONIGHT IT WAS WINDY AND A LITTLE COLD.
The Caesar salad was a little dry, but the server provided more dressing and it was great. We ordered the chicken Parmesan and the chicken cordon bleu. Both were excellent.

Instead of butter with the bread, try some olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Or maybe even a mixture of garlic, olive oil, and some herbs. Also, Since taking my vegetarian daughter to your restaurant Saturday night, we noticed how few vegetarian options there really are. She's also lactose intolerant, so it limited her options further. It must have been family night at this restaurant as it was full of young loud kids, the noise level was so bad I couldn't hear my in-laws talking. It felt like a pizza parlor atmosphere..which is great if that's what you are planning. Service was slow but the food was all good.
First timers! The halibut was wonderful! Loved all of the veggies; light on the starch. My husband had the tilapa. Switched out the mashed potatoes for the risotto (not a mashed potato fan). EXCELLENT! Loved the wine. We'll be back! Minor suggestion: Change out the butter with some vinegar and oil. Or, better yet: infuse some olive oil with garlic and rosemary. That would be awesome!
We had Saturday breakfast/brunch and the four of us all really enjoyed what we ordered-steak and eggs, French toast with Canadian bacon and eggs benedict (2 of us). Delicious! The restaurant is very nice and it looks like it would be a great place to sit outside too.

We started with the Calamari appetizers which had a light Japanese breading that was wonderful. The pork chop was so flavorful with an apple glaze, sauce and side of diced apples. Drinks were refilled when almost empty even though the place was really busy by the time we left. Too full to try the deserts. More than enough food take some extra home.
we really enjoyed the spaghetti carbonara. the pancakes were fluffy and yummy and the belgian waffles too. the steaks were as we ordered medium rare. hashbrowns and sunnyside eggs were perfect too!. It didn't take long either...We were lucky they were not busy this sunday brunch

our waitress was extremely helpful with menu items. The spinach/artichoke appetizer was delicious and plentiful! Our entrees were very good as was the chocolate truffle cake dessert. All portions were large - we took all of the leftovers home , as a matter of fact!
My family loves Xenia's. Living in Alamo, it is definitely our go- to restaurant. We consistently have good meals and the service is always exceptional. I am always surprised so many people have not been there before. If you are one of these people, you definitely need to change that.
A bit noisy.
The last time we were in this restaurant we were served rice with our curry. This time, we purchased the order of curry thinking that white rice would be included however, nothing was included. We had to pay $5 extra for a serving of rice. However, there was a platter on the menu which was an order of curry, basmati rice, dal and yogurt. The waitress failed to tell us that nothing was included with an order which was not a platter. Who in their right mind would eat a bowl of curry without bread or rice. Rice and curry go hand in hand. This was a bizarre and upsetting experience. I will not go to this restaurant ever again. It was ridiculous. Offering curry without anything is like offering a sandwich without the bread. Also, if we knew, we would have purchased the platter instead we actually paid more for our side or rice to go with our curry and actually received less items. Awful!!!1

It's a very good restaurant overall, but the interior noise level is almoost a no-go. Some sound deadening improvements would make it rate excellent.
The staff is so friendly. Jerry makes you feel like you are his best friend. The food is fabulous!! I always have the halibet encrusted by hashbrowns. The sauce is so yummy, I can't wait to go there again.

Entrees were great, but cheesecake did not have berries and the raspberry sauce was overly sweet, I guess it was to make up for the tasteless cheesecake. Spinach salad was almost dry.

Service was good. We enjoyed the calamari appetizer. There is a great variety of entrees at reasonable prices. My calamari steak with risotto and asparagus was very good, and my daughter loved her salmon and mashed potatoes. My wife liked the proteins in the paella, but the sauce was oversalted and she was not able to eat much of it.

Would have given it a "5" except for the noise level on a Saturday night, with young children on one side of us and an energetic "girls night out" on another side of us. Previous visit, on a Friday night several months ago, was much better noise level.
Fabulous find in Alamo. We started with the Calamari which had a panko breading and was very light and tasty.Then the butter lettuce salad. Comes with house dressing that does not over power the salad, but covers everything,again very light and tasty.We ordered the potatoe crusted halibut and mango salsa pork chop. Both were so good we each swapped plates half way through to enjoy both meals. All the food is mediterranean style and seasonings are excellant. Light but vibrant. Nothing over powers the taste of the meal but compliments each dish.

Very loud. Server responded poorly when I told him about a problem with my entree which was "swimming" in butter. He told me it wasn't butter. I sent it back after eating about a third of it.

It was FREEZING in there. There is no door between the bar and outdoor lounge, so when it's cold outside, you're going to freeze inside. The food was so-so, and in addition to eating two meals there, we took home sandwiches for the next day's lunch. Both sandwiches were supposed to have potato salad, but they put fries in one, which never re-heat well, so they got thrown out. The potato salad was terrible because the potatoes were almost raw. They tried to put too many things in with the potatoes and it just didn't taste good, so that was also thrown out.

Service has declined the past few visits. There is just not enough servers or bus boys when it may get busy.We had to get up and find our own utensils because we could not get anyone's attention.
Everything was excellent with the exception of the noise factor.
The food was so-so. I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu. The chicken was moist and juicy, but there was not much ham or cheese inside, and the amount of sauce was skimpy. My husband had the salmon. It came with a small scoop of guacamole, which did not seem to pair well with the fish.

I love the potato crusted halibet!!! The lemon sauce is terrific. Hubby had linguini with shrimp and clams, terrific as well. Very welcoming and friendly here. Yes, it's noisy, no carpet, only 2 booths. The tables have hard chairs. The food is fabulous.
Service was excellent. Food was great. Only exception was that my guest ordered a Basic Burger and it was served with cheese, which wasn't listed on the menu. Waitress offered to serve the hamburger without cheese, but guest was OK with removing the cheese herself.

The house salad was amazing! Plenty enough for 2 to share. The filet mignon was great, and the pommes frites were fantastic!

When we opened the door, the smell of garlic and aromas invited us in. The selection was great. Two of us had the halibut. Believe it or not, it was super!!! It had a crusted potato on the outside with a yummy lemon piccata. The bread was REAL S.F. sourdough. The beet-goat cheese salad was great, calamari was excellent. The clam-shrimp linguini was excellent. The food here was like some 5 star resaurant would serve.It is very casual, noisy, but the food here is terrific!

This is a wonderful neighberhood restaurant and we have always loved it. They have expanded their menu and we loved everything that we had.
We ordered a caesar salad that was one of the worst - dressing had no taste, lettuce watery, powdered parmesan cheese. Also, the risotto was terrible- it used to be "okay" but has definitely declined. Tasted like heavy cream was dumped into it. Someone needs to taste these. Everything else was great.

The ribeye was over cooked from med rare to med well and had no flavor because of it. I paid 26 for an overcooked piece of meat. I like restaurants that take pride in every order that goes out.

Your ribeye was tough, tasted like the grill wasn't clean, and/or had a weight pressed on it. Would NOT order that again. My butddy had the skirt/flank steak and said the same thing.
Recommend they brighten up the restaurant, perhaps use white tablecloths.

We had a great experience! Our server didn't rush us. My husband gave her an extra $20 to thank her! We hadn't seen our friends in 3 years so we talked for hours, NO one kicked us out even after they closed! They just kept cleaning up and let us decide when we were ready to leave. Tonight was our best experience at Xenia. We have had some poor meals and bad service in the past. Keep up the good work. We live in Alamo and normally go elsewhere. I think we will be coming in more often.
My first time there and I was happy with the experiance. I drove pass many time but I thought to try it with restaurant.com.
Xenia is a neighborhood restaurant that I frequent often because of the food and service.
I live in Alamo and Xenia Bistro is close in proximity and the food and service are very good.
Sebastian was our server and we enjoyed his sense of humor and personality as well as the good service.
The service was outstanding!!!
Love to support our local Alamo businesses. Live music on Friday/Saturday nights would be wonderful -- something light and easy listening that isn't too loud! Best to Jigi.
Waiter was very attentive but food came out wrong on four of our orders. I saw him write down our requests (no cheese on hamburgers, etc.) but they came out wrong anyway. Burgers were over cooked.
Great time. Will be back.
It's a very good neighborhood restaurant, and the plus of now dining there with certificates, makes it all the better.
