Buffet lunch, half the food was empty. The chicken dishes left two had no chicken at all, just sauce.
Try the Clay Oven Grill - delicious. Partner had usual favorite Vegtable Thalli
Lunch buffet food was not hot. We ate the last of the tandoori chicken and they never put more out. The other chicken dishes were dry and overcooked. The Nan bread had no flavor and was coated with oil. It may have been pita bread and not nan. It was 10.99 per person and was definitely not worth it. This restaurant had good reviews from years ago. I would not recommend the lunch buffet. Maybe dinner is different.

Our family absolutely loves Indian food! The restaurant offers a buffet for lunch and a extensive menue as well. Complementary chai tea in afternoons that is very good with just the right blend of spices. Food can be ordered to any spice or heat you like. Service is top notch. We are Scottish but consider this "home cooking" as it is clearly made with family recipes and with great care. We have had Indian food up and down the east coast and this hidden jem is by far the most authentic and delicious we have ever had. I cant even describe the naan thats made fresh each day! Great service too.I would also add the prices are very reasonable. We have been visiting for years.

My Husband and I love Indian food. We have sought out fine Indian cuisine all up and down the east coast. This small but charming restaurant exceeds our high expectations and is beyond doubt the best Indian food experience we have had to date.

Fantastic buffet, great price, clean, friendly restuarant.
The person that greeted us at the door didn’t seem to know English. The owner came out and took our orders and was very pleasant, but got distracted and came back to ask what our orders were. Food was very flavorful and temperature hot. Portions are big.
Enjoyed the rich & different flavors on the lunch buffet. Tender & tasty with medium Indian heat.
Taj is always a great experience with wonderful food. There are one or two waiters that you may need to remind them of things you requested as they get too busy and forget. Fortunately that is not the case with all of them.

Wish they would give a bigger portion of rice to accomodate the big portion of the entree! Especially when you pay extra for a side order and it’s still about the same amount. Guess just use to the other restaurants doing it family style!
Did the lunch buffet and it was very good food at an outstanding value. Used the restaurant gift certificate but waiter said it's only for weekend but he honored it since he said I was unaware of the rules of its usage requirements

Sadly, not as good as normal. Usually the food is outstanding but this time the recipes were not the same. The server was completely overwhelmed when orders went wrong.
I requested my dinner mild, instead I was served medium-hot. Therefore I did not enjoy my dinner this visit.

Service was great. Our waiter was helpful and made nice suggestions. Food was wonderful! I ordered food to take home to my hubby and they made his very spicy. I called and they offered to remake next time we are in. I had the same thing at the restaurant and it was wonderful. While mine was fantastic my hubby left for night shift hungry.
Best food in Fredericksburg! They needed more than one waiter for the whole restaurant though.

Our server (Asad) was so pleasant and professional. He made the experience wonderful.
On the buffet, everything was prepared very fresh. Spice level was mild to medium. Which suited us fine. They weren't always good regarding clearing away of the used dishes. However when asked to , they obliged, with a warm friendly smile. Pretty good about refreshing our glassed of water.

Awesome as always - food wasn't up to its usual high standard today though.....and i'm dissppointed that it was ONLY chicken on the buffet since weekend buffet costs more than week day yet there was no difference in offerings.

THE best indian food around. We use our voucher to try something new each time as an appetizer -- we split it among the table. Allow more time than you normally would -- everything is cooked to order. The Bollywood channel adds to the ambiance.

The food was exceptional. We ordered the Royal Feast so we could try several different dishes and were impressed with everything on the table. I look forward to returning and trying other dishes on the menu. My only complaint is that the prices for alcoholic drinks are way too high for the quality offered (an $8 bottle of wine from Walmart shouldn't cost $26). However, we will certainly return for the food and just bypass the alcohol.

They always have fresh and wonderful food in their buffet. The service is great, and they have a wide selection of dishes to chose from on the buffet.
Buffet was excellent -- even had chai tea on it. Even though I am gluten free, there was a super selection for me.

The food is great! But the prices are WAY TOO HIGH! They charge for naan when most other places serving the same type of food give at least the 1st order of naan free/included with entrée. They also don't seem to have a "typical" mint yogurt chutney, just a raita which they also charge for if it's not included with certain entrées.
We were celebrating my husband's birthday. The food was excellent. Fresh and hot and cooked to order. Service was good too.

Not much flavor in the foods. Nan bread was very good. Unfortunately if you get nan with toppings such as chili and garlic expect some dried chipped garlic with dried parsley and some chili flakes. Corn soup from a can, very obvious. Tomato soup was a joke. Just some diluted canned tomato sauce with some super concentrated heat <--can't call it spice because then it would have a flavor ) Word of advice to the ppl in the kitchen. When you serve soup do not overfill the plates. It came to us a mess. Our table also rocked back and forth which caused it to spill over even more. People do not eat soup from messy plates at home so why would we want to at a restaurant? If the food was made fresh instead of on the cheap I'm sure it would taste much better.

Delicious and fantastic service!
I thought the people that served us were just fantastic. I had never eaten that kind of food before and she helped me figure out what to eat and it was not bad. I don't think Indian food is my thing, so I probably won't go there too often, but only because I don't care for that type of food.
We had a combo dish which was an excellent mix of tastes. Service also warm and attentive.

Food was excellent, as always. Fresh, piping hot, and seasoned just right with a little bit of kick to it. The batch of Naan bread was delicious and had just come out of the oven.
The food was tasty and our server was very attentive. There was a mix up in the kitchen where the wrong meat was used for my husband's entree, but that was quickly fixed and they even packed up the dish made in error for us to take home and enjoy the next day.
Have not had a bad meal at Taj. We were even brought a complimentary ice cream taster! Food was delicious

My husband and I loved it. We got the kings feast for 2 which was served in four courses. Everything was flavored well and we loved the sauces that came with the meal. The chai tea we had was the perfect touch. The waiter was very attentive. Will definitely come back.
I'm comparing this with Guru, another fine Indian restaurant in the area. Although our many experiences at Guru were satisfying, this was a cut above.
Great and prompt service! Food was delicious with good flavors, truly enjoyed it. Better than most Indian restaurants I have been to, and definitely the best in Fredericksburg.
