The crab cakes are sublime. Garlic Mashed Potatoes are creamy with small bits of potato, so you know they aren't instant, and there's always a choice of the vegetable of the day. Tonight was Honeyed Carrots or Steamed Broccoli. The baby carrot s were delicious and cooked perfectly.

They food was very good. It took longer than usual. We waited almost 1 hour for our food. I got the chiefs mix , small prime rib, crab cake , and shrimp. I thought the crab cake was the best.

The complaint first: the mashed sweet potatoes were cold. Otherwise, the BBB&G offers a great dining experience. Our waitress, Sarah, was very attentive. The items on their menu can not be found easily anywhere else. We are looking forward to our return!

I had the twin crab cakes and they described as lump well not many lumps of crab a lot of filler. My husband had the veal Oscar it was disappointing as it was not tender now the chefs added big lumps of crab meat on top now that should have been in the crab cakes.

It's a small establishment with delicious food. Travel from Lancaster, PA, to eat here maybe two to three times a year. For the most part it's a friendly atmosphere, however, have encountered some snooty servers on occasion. Like it when the chef visits with the customers and talks about food specials and preparations.

The prices are reasonable. Our bill was high because we ea had a cocktail before dinner & we bought 2 bottles of wine. The second mostly full but we wanted one more so we purchased the bottle.

I debated between getting the regular Eggs Benedict and the Eggs Benedict Chesapeake for an additional $6. I was disappointed with the small amount (about 2 teaspoons) of lump crabmeat on the Chesapeake version of the dish. The food was quite good, I just expected a bit more.

Our "Mixed Grill" plate came out of their kitchen totally BURNED. We asked the waitress to re-prepare. Second round was fine, but steak was still not cooked to order. Chicken was dry. Crab cake was fine. Front-end manager asked if everything was OK, and responded that it was; however, we were disappointed that he didn't offer us a dessert or one free meal because we had to wait an inordinate amount of time for our replacement meal. Our friends were totally finished and had to watch us eat our meal. Totally unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber. This visit gets a very negative rating. We think the initial success of this restaurant has gone to their head. On a Sat nite, they had empty tables. That should not happen. Our wonderful server made this visit bearable.

we have been to back fin several times and always enjoy the experience. This time however, we were kinda disappointed with our meal. One in the party orderd the mixed grill and found out that part of the entree was not available and substituted. It was supposed to be veal and it ended up being rib eye that had more fat on it than desired. Then 2 people at the table ordered the sea bass and really was the reason that we went there for dinner.. and that too was sold out. Instead both got the sturgeon and it was tasty. 3 of the 4 of us also found too much salt on the food, althou the flavors were nice. One other disappointment were the jumbo wings. they were small to average size. and while they tasted great, it was disappointing that they werent jumbo.Our other appetizer was crab louie and it was delish.

the food was delicious. Every meal was art on a plate. We had selected 3 different entrees, 2 different appetizers and a soup and every one of them was perfection. The sauces were scrumptious, the meats tender and the fish not fishy. We had 2 crab appetizers and they both had alot of crab chunks and the seafood chowder was loaded with all kinds of seafood. You definitely wont be disappointed.

The waitress described specials wrong which was disappointing. Soft crabs were fried when she had said they were sauted, and she said the vegetable was broccolinni but it was actually broccoli rabe. We made a spontaneous decision to have dinner here for our 22nd wedding anniversary and could not have picked a better place. The service was impeccable, the food absolutely amazing and the atmosphere very relaxing with a variety of blues greats playing over the sound system. We had a wonderful time as usual. My only comment is that they add the tip onto the tax. There is no reason for us to tip on the tax. The taxes are high enough. We tip a good 20% or higher on our own and to be taxed on the tip is insulting!!!

This friendly unassuming spot falls between a 4 and a 5, the owner came by to inquire as to our meal, the waiter was excellent and we were made to feel totally at home and very welcome. The new menu has less exciting options then the old one and the price increase is too drastic and now out weighs the food quality. Before it was good food at a great value with even better service. Now it is good food at a price that overshadows the food quality. Also seems like the wine prices have gone up at a large increment. It will be a while before we return and we were regulars. If pricing needed revamped it would have been better done in smaller increments.

Wow1 What a great experience. From the website it looked like the funky little restaurant that it turned out to be. The service was great and all employees were courteous, hospitable and friendly. Meghan who was our server was tops. The owner an affable and friendly guy even by our table after dinner and I told him we had found his restaurant through restaurant.com. My wife and I had the crabcakes and they were by far the best we have ever eaten and the Backfin will be a MUST STOP for us on any trip down on 95. I was a little confused it that I was only able to use my $ 25 certificate even though our actual bill was about $ 130.00. The $25 certificate clearly states that alcohol is not included in the minimum. The $50 and above certificate states "Must comply with all state laws pertaining to the distribution of alcohol." I was told that I couldn't use it. So I came home with my $ 50.00 certificate. We went down to Baltimore from there and the Grille 700 maitre de' said that there was no such prohibition on their $ 75.00 certificate and used a $ 50.00 certificate at Light 17 for a total bill of $ 125.00 which included $ 44.00 for liquor.

The service was great, young man who waited on us very friendly. The appetizer I ordered was delicious - Lobster Bisque. The dressing on my salad was Bleu Cheese and loaded with lumps. I ordered Chicken Chesapeake for my entree. The chicken was tender and the crab delicious with large lump meat. Potatoes and zucchini superb. Dessert, Swiss chocolate cake moist and creamy. We'll definitely return with more people in our party. The atmosphere was very relaxing-sat outside and watched the evening fall. Amazing! Wonderful culinary experience!

Server was nice but not enthusiastic or quick. Our table - and others outside - seemed to be fogotten at times. Table was not cleared quickly enough between courses. Most of the food was terrific but the service spoiled the meal. Not likely to come back - don't want to risk it considering it was a half hour drive to get there. On a list of this size, 3-4 oaked chardonnays and 3-4 tropical fruit heavy sauvignon blancs are too much. How about 1 or 2 Loires, a full-bodied beaujelais, a couple French red and white bourgogne, and an inexpensive and much better sparkler, perhaps Willm blanc de blanc brut?

Our first dining experience at Backfin Blues was wonderful. The atmosphere is relaxed yet not too loud. Our server was attentive, had a good knowledge of the foods and wines he was serving, and the meal itself was outstanding - fresh, properly seasoned, well cooked, with adequate adult portions. The chef/owner stopped by our table at the conclusion of our meal to introduce himself and thank us for coming. We certainly will return, and we put it high on the list of local restaurants to bring out of town guests.
